I was missing our old friend Paul today. I was learning to play Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix and was having trouble making sense of the chord progression from a harmony standpoint. Its easy enough to play, and sounds great, but I like to understand why chords work together and this progression didn't easily fit into my understanding of music theory. I was trying to decide if I wanted to think of it as a chord sequence in Em, or Em modulating to either Am or C. Would love to have that discussion with Paulie. I know it would have been enlightening, entertaining, and LENGTHY. I Miss my old friend.

Yes, the conversation would be all enlightening, entertaining and lengthy and would include more than just that chord progression.  You may also have heard about assorted other subjects.  I certainly miss him.

Sarge,
I've been working on that old headless Hohner bass of Paul's. I did a complete setup on it, adjusted the relief, set the action, and intonation. I also had to make a new back cover since it was missing. Last year I made one with wood, but it wan't very good. This time I made a nice one out of an old pickguard. It sounds great and plays easy. I still don't play it much due to the shape, but I like to see it hanging up on the wall.

Whenever I had a song I was challenged with I would reach out to Paul. His knowledge of music was extensive. I would always get more info then I could even understand but he always seemed to give me what I needed to move forward.

Really miss his insight and humor.

I just miss our telephone conversations no matter what the subject...subjects....that were covered in a couple hours.  Often, late at night while I am up alone in the house, I look at the phone and realize that Paul will not be calling.
